ACHILLES IS MY HERO

A hero – is a man who is regarded as having some heroic qualities.

I want to tell you about one of my favourite heroes. It is the ancient Greek hero – Achilles. He was a perfect warrior. He was the son of Peley. He was invincible, but had one weak place – his heel.

He took part in every battle. People used to say about him that he was the greatest warrior of all times and he was very brave.

He also took part in the Trojan War. He fought like a beast, and defeated a lot of Trojan heroes. He killed the son of the ruler of Troy – Hector, because the latter had killed his best friend – Patrokl.

In the Trojan War Achilles wanted to find glory, he wanted people not to forget him for a long time, for centuries. He knew that he wouldn’t return home and tried to kill as many people, as he could.

He was killed in the last days of Troy. But his wishes came true: people haven’t forgotten Achilles. But nowadays most people know him only as one out of many legendary heroes, and not more.

But in ancient times Achilles was an ideal of a warrior. He fought for world-wide glory and got it. His soldiers respected him and he respected them too, and protected them in different situations. They felt that they owed him a lot, because he had taught them different things: war craft, tactics, etc.

As for me I like him because he was not only a killing machine, but he was very kind as well. He didn’t use his invincibility, but always wore his armor and took his shield to the battles. He was very strong physically and morally.

I’m sure he is worthy of that glory.
