My name is Pasha. I have lived in Akademgorodok for eleven years. My favourite place in Akademgorodok is Botanical Garden. We like to walk there together with my family.
The Botanical Garden has its own history. It was founded as one of the academical institution. It occupies several hundred hectares. The territory of Botanical Garden is divided into a few parts. Every part corresponds to a type of wood of every siberian region. Moreover there are a lot of plants typical to Far East region. The main building of Botanical Garden is equipped with so-called phytotrone. This is a big hot-house with an automatic system to keep temperature, humidity and light in the needed conditions. Phytotrone is used to investigate some special and rare plants. Mainly Botanical Garden provides investigations on adoptation of useful plants to hard siberian conditions. Those are highly productive sorts of corns, tomatos, pepper, potatoes and other vegetables and fruit trees.
Botanical Garden has a beautiful site for excursions and exhibitions of Siberian plants kingdom. This is also a lovely place for a rest. The most interesting spot is an artificial lake. Now Botanical Garden is the place that is visited by many people. This is a wonderful place for me.
